I have built some graphics with Visio Pro 2003 for our in-house NAE-35, Ver.1.2.   I had trouble loading the NAE with the .svg extension.  (Received error messages when saving the background image.)  To get around this problem, I have saved my visio file as a jpeg file and I am then able to load the graphic as a background.  The jpeg format makes the text appear blurry and hard to read, which may also be due to my image size on the screen.  I am looking for suggestions on how I can size my background image to fit the screen, and also any input into possibly why I am not able to load the .svg format.  (Note:  I am able to load .svg files with some basic visio images, my problem seems to be when I add jpeg pictures to my visio drawing.)

What were the error messages you were getting?

Also, try using bmp or png as the image format.  I believe images are converted into png type within svg.

I'm not exactly sure what the ideal image size is for standard graphics.  It's probably 600x800.

Thanks for your reply.  I am saving my Visio file in SVG format by hitting "Select All" and then Save As .svg.  When I try to load the newly created svg file I receive the error message <Invalid byte 3 of 3 byte UTF-8 sequence>.   Since then, I have selected individual jpeg pictures that I have inserted into my Visio drawing and saved the jpeg picture to svg format.  I am successful at loading the NAE with jpeg pictures saved in svg format.  My problem seems to occur when I select the whole drawing in svg format.

Another item that I am curious about, is when I select a graphic running in the NAE,  I must select "Fit to Window" each time.  Is there a parameter I can set to have the graphics open to "Fit the Window" every time I select the graphic?

The invalid byte error typically occurs when a non-standard character is used somewhere in your drawing.  I ran across this by accident.....if you type a hyphen is visio, sometimes it is converted automatically to a hyphen symbol by visio (it appears longer than a character hyphen).  Just replace any non-standard characters with the standard ones and it should work.

Are you using JCI's advanced graphics library?  If so, they seem to create the graphics at the right zoom settings.

Thanks for the tip,  my problem was an & sign in a text box.  I have one other graphic that will not load in svg format - The error is: <Http://www.w3.org:-1  The attribute "d" of the element <path> is required.>    Any idea's?

I am also not able to size my graphic to fit the full screen in SVG format.  I am not using the Metasys Advanced Graphics package ... the JCI literature states that advanced graphics works with the ADS/ADX server.  My system is stand-alone NAE-35, can I still use the Advanced Graphics package and are there benefits beyond saving  the graphic with the correct dimensions?
